Germany – Bristell, the light aircraft manufacturer operating under BRM Aero, has received seven new approvals under its German Type Certificate (TCDS Kennblatt 66253, Issue 13), significantly expanding the operational configurations available to German flight training operators, flying clubs, and gliding organisations.

  • The approved configurations include the LSA-K-RG-916 short-wing retractable gear model certified with the 160 hp Rotax 916iS engine; large fuel tanks (164 litres / 43 US gallons) for extended range; Fiti propeller approval for the Rotax 912 iS; and Rotax 916iS operation without Single Lever Power Control (SLPC), enabling separate throttle and prop controls suited to clubs and training fleets.
  • Additional approvals cover lithium battery installation as a lighter alternative to lead-acid, and Tost and FVA winch certifications enabling Bristell aircraft to conduct glider towing operations — covering the two most widely used winch systems in German gliding clubs. The glider towing approval opens a new operational segment for Bristell in the German market.
  • The expanded German certification builds on a milestone 2025 for Bristell. The B23-912iS received EASA CS-23 certification for European flight training applications, and the B23 achieved FAA FAR 23 certification for the U.S. market. The manufacturer won the LSA Grand Champion award at Sun 'n Fun 2025 and the Innovation Award at AERO Friedrichshafen for the B23 Energic variant.
  • In February 2026, BRM Aero was selected by South Korea's Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) to deliver Bristell aircraft for an initial pilot training programme operated by the Republic of Korea Air Force (ROKAF), including cockpit procedure trainers and technical support with phased deliveries from 2026 to 2028.
  • BRM Aero produces over 110 aircraft annually from its Kunovice facility in the Czech Republic, distributing through more than 30 authorised dealers across five continents. The Bristell platform has also been adopted by European flight training leasing specialist Green Aerolease, which added BRM Aero to its manufacturer portfolio in 2025.
  • Bristell will exhibit at AERO Friedrichshafen from 22–25 April 2026, Hall A7, Booth 300.
