Colorado, USA – Electric training aircraft manufacturer Bye Aerospace has completed a taxi test of eFlyer 2 Serial No. 001 while hosting strategic battery supplier magniX, demonstrating operability of the full-scale prototype as preparations continue for its first flight.
- One eFlyer 2 full-scale prototype, Serial No. 001, completed the latest taxi test with magniX Chairman Neil Perry in the cockpit.
- magniX is supplying the prototype’s electric energy-storage system, including battery modules, redundant power distribution and charging technology. The eFlyer 2 prototype uses magniX Samson batteries for its forthcoming flight-test activity.
- Bye selected magniX for the prototype battery system in October 2025.
- magniX has separately stated that the Samson-powered eFlyer 2 is targeting a two-hour training mission with an additional 30-minute reserve. Its Samson300 battery module is published with 300 Wh/kg energy density, 13.7 kWh capacity per module and a specified cycle life of 1,000 full-depth discharge cycles.
- The eFlyer 2 is configured with a 125 kW electric motor and Garmin G500 TXi avionics. Bye Aerospace states that the aircraft is being developed under an FAA 14 CFR Part 23 Amendment 64 certification pathway and is designed specifically for the flight-training market.
- The wider supplier programme includes Safran Electrical & Power for the ENGINeUS 100B1 electric motor, Garmin for avionics, Composite Approach for fabrication and assembly of SN001, and Electro.Aero for charging and ground-support infrastructure.
- Bye Aerospace reported in June 2026 that its eFlyer orderbook exceeded 1,000 aircraft across the two-seat eFlyer 2 and four-seat eFlyer 4, with identified flight-training customers including Spartan College, Skyborne Airline Academy, Flex Air Flight School and KLM Flight Academy.
- AFM previously reported that SN001 had reached its wheels-on configuration in Denver in June 2026 and subsequently entered final first-flight preparations following structural-load, flight-control and ground testing. AFM also reported in August that Bye Aerospace was using its Battery Engine Assessment Truck to validate propulsion, battery and pilot-interface systems ahead of flight testing.
