Bye Aerospace Rolls Out Full-Scale eFlyer Prototype Structure While Hosting Electro.Aero CEO Josh Portlock

May 29, 2026

USA – Bye Aerospace, the US-based developer of the eFlyer family of all-electric training aircraft, has completed the full-scale prototype structural rollout of its eFlyer program, hosting Josh Portlock, CEO of Australian aviation fast-charging company Electro.Aero, at the milestone event.

  • The full-scale prototype structural rollout represents a significant development milestone for the eFlyer program, advancing the all-electric training aircraft from design and component development into a complete airframe configuration.
  • The visit by Electro.Aero CEO Josh Portlock during the rollout underscores the continuing partnership between the two companies, with Electro.Aero previously announced in August 2025 as Bye Aerospace's partner for fast-charging solutions for the eFlyer fleet — a critical infrastructure component for electric flight training operations where rapid turnaround between training sessions is essential.
  • Bye Aerospace recently selected Composite Approach, a US-based advanced composite manufacturing specialist, to build the fuselage for its new-design all-electric composite aircraft, marking a key industrial partnership as the company progresses toward production.
  • The eFlyer program targets the flight training market, where electric propulsion offers the potential for significantly reduced operating costs, zero direct emissions, and lower noise levels compared to conventional piston trainers — benefits that are particularly relevant for high-utilization flight school environments.
