Global – USA headquartered training aircraft manufacturer Bye Aerospace has formally introduced the global supplier and technology partner ecosystem supporting the eFlyer 2 all-electric training aircraft as the company enters final preparations for the prototype's first flight, with an orderbook exceeding 1,000 aircraft from flight training organisations including Spartan College, Skyborne Academy, Flex Air Flight School, and KLM Academy.
- The eFlyer 2 supplier ecosystem comprises tier-one aviation suppliers and innovators across propulsion, energy storage, avionics, composites, and ground support:
- Safran Electrical and Power: EASA-certified ENGINeUS 100B1 electric motor
- magniX USA: Electric energy storage system including advanced battery modules, redundant power distribution, and charging technologies
- Garmin: G500 TXi touchscreen avionics suite for flight display and navigation
- Siemens Digital Industries Software: Digital engineering tools for aircraft design, structural analysis, simulation, and program management
- Toray Composite Materials America: Advanced lightweight, high-strength composite materials for the aircraft structure
- Composite Approach: Full-scale prototype fabrication and assembly (Serial Number 001)
- Sensenich Propellers: Electric propulsion propeller system
- Electro.Aero: Ground support technology and fast-charging solution to minimise aircraft turnaround time
- Risse Racing: Precision-machined nose landing gear and motor mounts
- Flying S: Composite fabrication of the tail assembly
- M4 Engineering: Composite fabrication of aircraft doors
- The eFlyer 2 has completed rigorous pre-flight testing including structural load testing of the wing, fuselage, and flight controls, limit load testing, and low- and high-speed ground testing at various angles of attack, with a dedicated mobile truck test rig ("The Beast") used for extensive propulsion system testing.
- Bye Aerospace positions the eFlyer 2 as capable of reducing maintenance and energy costs by up to 80% compared to conventional training aircraft, with quieter operation designed to improve community compatibility at training airports.
- The orderbook of more than 1,000 aircraft across the 2-seat eFlyer 2 and 4-seat eFlyer 4 reflects training industry commitment to electric training aircraft, with orders from established institutions across North America and Europe.
Statements
- "Our partners supporting the eFlyer 2 program represent some of the most respected names across the aviation industry. Their involvement reflects the low-risk approach and technical progress of the program, as well as the growing confidence in electric aviation. As we approach the first flight, this milestone represents years of focused development and close collaboration with partners who have helped turn eFlyer 2 from a concept into a flight-ready aircraft," said Rod Zastrow, CEO at Bye Aerospace.
