CAE Secures Contract for Two F-16 Full-Mission Training Systems

Morocco – Canada-headquartered training and simulation provider CAE has been awarded a U.S. Foreign Military Sales contract to establish F-16 Block 72 simulator training capability for the Royal Moroccan Air Force at Sidi Slimane Air Base.

  • The contract has a maximum value of $42,103,873, with $37,975,064 in Foreign Military Sales funding obligated at the time of award. It covers two F-16 full-mission trainer systems and contractor logistics support under contract FA862126CB003.
  • Work will be performed at CAE's facility in Arlington, Texas, and at Sidi Slimane Air Base in Morocco, with completion scheduled for April 30, 2029. The U.S. Air Force Life Cycle Management Center's Agile Combat Support Directorate, Simulators Division at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base is the contracting activity.
  • The simulator acquisition supports Morocco's wider F-16 modernization. In March 2019, the U.S. State Department approved a possible $3.787 billion Foreign Military Sale covering 25 new F-16C/D Block 72 aircraft and associated equipment, including simulators and training equipment.
  • A separate 2019 approval covered the proposed upgrade of 23 existing Moroccan F-16 aircraft to the F-16V configuration at an estimated value of $985.2 million.
  • Each full-mission trainer will incorporate an instructor-operator station, F-16 Block 72 cockpit, visual display, computational and power-distribution systems and a Joint Helmet-Mounted Cueing System II helmet-mounted display. The wider contract also includes an uninterruptible power supply, central file server, spares and support equipment.
