Canada – Sealand Flight, a British Columbia–based flight training organisation headquartered in Campbell River, has been named Flight School of the Year 2025 by the Canadian Owners and Pilots Association (COPA), recognising its leadership in electric flight training and its contribution to sustainable pilot-development initiatives in Canada. The award highlights Sealand Flight’s position as the country’s first flight school to deliver training on the Pipistrel Velis Electro, the first fully electric aircraft certified by Transport Canada.
- Sealand Flight integrated the Velis Electro into its curriculum in mid-2024, positioning the organisation at the forefront of Canada’s emerging electric-aviation training sector.
- The training school now delivers both ab initio and advanced pilot training using electric aircraft, supporting Canada’s long-term emissions-reduction strategy and growing demand for environmentally responsible aviation practices.
- The organisation continues to expand its training footprint across Vancouver Island, providing electric-aircraft instruction to students based in Campbell River, Courtenay, Powell River, Qualicum Beach and Nanaimo.
- Sealand Flight now offers a broad portfolio of training programmes, including introductory courses, PPL, CPL and instructor ratings, with electric-aircraft training available to all entry-level students.
