Spain – CANAVIA Aviation Academy, an EASA Approved Training Organisation based in the Canary Islands, has placed an order for four Tecnam Next Generation aircraft — three P2008JC NGs and one P2006T NG — bringing its total fleet to 16 aircraft across deliveries scheduled through 2027.

  • Two P2008JC NG single-engine aircraft are scheduled for delivery by the end of 2026, with a further P2008JC NG and the P2006T NG twin-engine aircraft to follow in 2027.
  • The NG fleet is equipped with fully integrated glass cockpits, which CANAVIA has positioned as a core component of its airline readiness curriculum, ensuring cadets develop technical skills aligned with commercial flight deck standards from the earliest stages of their training.
  • CANAVIA currently trains approximately 100 ATPL students and operates from a private aerodrome in the Canary Islands, achieving more than 1,000 flight hours per aircraft annually — a utilisation rate underpinned by the academy's own Approved Maintenance Service Center and the year-round flying weather the islands provide.
  • The Tecnam P2008JC NG and P2006T NG are designed to provide a seamless transition pathway from single-engine to multi-engine training within the same glass-cockpit avionics environment, supporting training continuity and reducing type-to-type adjustment.
  • The order marks the continuation of a 17-year expansion trajectory for CANAVIA, which began operations in 2009.

Statements

  • "We provide not only ATPL training to get the licenses and ratings, but also to prepare our students as future airline pilots, requiring top-tier technical skills to be developed. The new Tecnams, with fully integrated glass cockpits, will be a core part of fulfilling this requirement. With these new aircraft, CANAVIA will reach a fleet of 16 airplanes, supporting our non-stop increase of activity since we started 17 years ago," said Mario Pons, CEO, CANAVIA Aviation Academy.
  • "CANAVIA is a textbook example of a highly successful, high-volume flight academy. Flying an aircraft for over 1,000 hours a year demands incredible robustness and reliability. We are honored that Mario and his team continue to trust Tecnam's Next Generation fleet — specifically the seamless transition between the P2008JC NG and the P2006T NG — to train their growing roster of 100 ATPL students," said Walter Da Costa, Chief Sales Officer, Tecnam.
