China – Zhuhai Xiangyi Aviation Technology Co., Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of China Southern Airlines, has awarded Canadian aviation simulation manufacturer CAE Inc. a contract to supply a new Boeing 777F Full Flight Simulator (FFS) for its training centre in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province. The acquisition will support the expansion of the centre's widebody freighter pilot training capabilities following delivery and regulatory qualification.

The procurement specifies delivery of the simulator within 18 months of the contract becoming effective. The award was formally published on 15 May 2026, following the opening of bids on 9 May.
The international procurement was managed by China Southern Airlines Group Import & Export Trading Corporation under tender reference 0761-2640CSN02002 and project reference CZ2025010136. The tender was initially published on 26 March 2026 before being reissued on 9 April.
The acquisition adds to Zhuhai Xiangyi's existing Boeing 777 training infrastructure, which supports commercial airline pilot qualification and recurrent training. The additional freighter-specific device will provide capacity for Boeing 777F flight crew training once commissioned.
CAE and Zhuhai Xiangyi have an established commercial relationship. The Chinese training centre operated as a joint venture between China Southern Airlines and CAE from 2003 until August 2017, when China Southern acquired the remaining shares and assumed full ownership.
The new Boeing 777F simulator must meet Level D qualification standards under China's CCAR-60-R1 and AC-60-FS-2019-006, ICAO Doc 9625 Level 7, EASA CS-FSTD(A) and FAA 14 CFR Part 60. The procurement additionally required bidders to hold Boeing B777 Legacy simulator manufacturing authorisation and to have delivered at least 15 civil full flight simulators worldwide between January 2023 and the tender deadline.
