Ireland– The Airline Pilot Club (APC) has unveiledAmelia.2, an advanced AI-powered training platform developed in collaboration with Dataiku and DigitalShift, marking a significant shift in how the aviation industry manages pilot recruitment, training, and compliance.
Amelia.2 is designed to support the rollout ofEvidence-Based Training (EBT)andCompetency-Based Training and Assessment (CBTA)across airlines and flight schools by transforming large volumes of training data into actionable insights.Developed in just five months using the Dataiku platform, Amelia automates training workflows, delivers personalized feedback, and ensures regulatory compliance across FAA and EASA standards.Core functionalities include real-time KPI monitoring, automated generation of personalized training reports, and seamless integration of fragmented datasets from simulators, assessments, and flight performance records.
Real-World Application: Avianca Recruitment ProjectIn partnership with Symbiotics, APC used Amelia to support Avianca’s First Officer recruitment drive. Over six months, 1,800 candidates were assessed across 50 performance indicators, leading to the selection of 180 candidates for A320 type rating training. The system consistently delivered 30 qualified candidates per month, showcasing Amelia’s scalability and impact.
Key Technical Highlights
Built using Dataiku’s flexible platform with native support for Python and REmployed Dataiku’s LLM Mesh for natural language processing tasksLeveraged automated workflows and built-in governance for GDPR and aviation regulatory complianceEnhanced document analysis through the Dataiku text plugin
