Netherlands – E-Flight Academy, Europe's first electric aircraft-focused flight school based at Teuge Airport in the Netherlands, has reached 8,000 electric flights as of 9 May 2026 — a milestone achieved over five years of operations with zero kerosene consumption.
- The 8,000 flights were logged by students, enthusiasts, pilots, and instructors across the academy's fleet of Pipistrel Velis Electro aircraft, the world's first type-certified electric aircraft.
- What started with two Pipistrel Velis Electros has grown into a fleet of five, with additional aircraft on the way to support continued growth.
- E-Flight Academy conducts 97% of its Flight Instructor training flights on the fully electric Velis Electro and offers EASA-certified training programs.
- The academy has been building a growing portfolio of partnerships.
- Corendon Airlines' first batch of four cadet pilots recently achieved their first solo flights at the academy
- In September 2025, E-Flight Academy signed a training contract with the Dutch Ministry of Defense.
- In June 2025, the academy formalized a collaboration with the Royal Netherlands Aerospace Centre (NLR) to advance electric aviation research including battery and liquid hydrogen propulsion technologies.
