December 5, 2025

Taiwan – Tigerair Taiwan, the low-cost carrier majority-owned by China Airlines, has approved a major fleet expansion plan that will introduce the Airbus A321neo into its operations for the first time. The airline will acquire four A321neos directly from Airbus and lease an additional 11 aircraft, with a total programme value of T$40 billion (US$1.28 billion).

  • The 11 leased aircraft are scheduled for delivery by 2031, while the four purchased units are expected to join the fleet by 2035.
  • The expansion marks a significant step change for Tigerair Taiwan, which currently operates a single-type fleet of 17 Airbus A320 family aircraft—nine A320-200s and eight A320neos (16 listed as active as of November 30, 2025).
