United Kingdom – Switzerland-headquartered flight simulation manufacturer ELITE Simulation Solutions has announced the sale and installation of a 6-degree-of-freedom (6DOF) motion flight simulator at Kingston University in the United Kingdom.

  • The 6DOF motion platform delivers physical motion cues across all six axes of movement, replicating the sensations of real flight including changes in acceleration, orientation, and position to support the development of motor skills and situational awareness in trainee pilots.
  • The system provides motion feedback relevant to both normal and non-normal operations, with particular utility in scenarios involving external aerodynamic factors such as turbulence and wind gusts.
  • A core design principle of the ELITE motion platform is the accuracy of motion cueing — ensuring that the timing, intensity, and direction of simulated forces faithfully represent the specific aircraft being simulated, including touchdown sensations linked directly to calculated rate of descent.

Statements

  • "Universities play a vital role in shaping the next generation of aviation professionals. We are proud to support Kingston University with a motion platform that brings real-world flight physics into the training environment," said Christopher Reville, CCO, ELITE Simulation Solutions.
