Elixir Aircraft Expands Trainer Lineup in 2026

Global – training aircraft manufacturer Elixir Aircraft has expanded its product roadmap with the Elixir+ Essential, Expert and Elite configurations alongside the Elixir Turbine and larger Equinox development programs. The broader lineup is intended to let flight schools use related aircraft across primary, instrument and higher-performance training phases, potentially reducing fleet fragmentation and instructor-transition requirements.

• The announced product lineup comprises:
  • Elixir Initial for primary VFR training.
  • Elixir+ Essential for increased-payload daily training.
  • Elixir+ Expert for instrument training.
  • Elixir+ Elite for turbocharged IFR operations.
  • Elixir Turbine as a sustainable-propulsion development program.
  • Equinox as a larger future aircraft program.
• The Elixir+ Essential increases maximum take-off weight from 630 kg to 700 kg and extends wingspan from 8.48 metres to 8.94 metres. Changes also include a redesigned fuel-pump system, revised nose landing gear, winglets, leading edges and vortex generators.
• The Elixir+ Expert pairs the higher-payload platform with Garmin AXIS Flight Displays and is intended to support IFR and instrument-rating instruction. Elixir did not disclose the variant’s certification or delivery schedule.
• The Elixir+ Elite adds a 141 hp turbocharged Rotax 915iS engine and Garmin AXIS avionics. Elixir publishes a climb-performance range of 1,400–2,000 feet per minute and a cruise speed of 158 knots at 85% power.
• The company provided no new technical information on the Elixir Turbine during the initial lineup announcement. The turbine demonstrator completed its first flight in June 2025 using a Turbotech TP-R90 powerplant developed for operation with sustainable aviation fuel.
• Equinox will be larger than the current two-seat Elixir platform and will retain the Carbon OneShot composite-airframe approach. Seating capacity, propulsion, certification timetable and planned entry into service have not been announced.
• The current Elixir airframe comprises nine principal structural parts and includes a ballistic parachute, anti-spin protection and crash-resistant fuel tank. The manufacturer reports fuel and maintenance expenditure of approximately USD50 per flight hour.
• Elixir reports 60 aircraft in service and an order backlog exceeding 300 aircraft across firm orders, pre-orders and letters of intent. Its EUR45 million July 2026 funding round will support production expansion, US market development and the launch of Equinox.
• AFM previously reported that Elixir introduced the higher-payload Elixir+ in April 2026 and secured an initial five-aircraft order from Greek flight school Global Aviation. AFM also covered the turbine demonstrator’s maiden flight and the subsequent EUR45 million Equinox financing.
