France & Greece – French aircraft manufacturer Elixir Aircraft has unveiled the Elixir+, a major upgrade to its EASA- and FAA-certified two-seat training aircraft, at the AERO Friedrichshafen exhibition. Greek flight school Global Aviation has placed an order for five Elixir+ aircraft.
- The Elixir+ features a significantly increased full-fuel payload enabled by a rise in maximum take-off weight (MTOW) from 630 kg to 700 kg, allowing operators to carry two pilots and full fuel without compromising performance.
- Aerodynamic enhancements include new winglets, vortex generators, redesigned leading edges, and an increased wingspan from 8.48 m to 8.94 m, improving efficiency across the flight envelope.
- Additional improvements include a redesigned fuel pump system for simplified maintenance and spare parts sourcing, and an evolved nose landing gear offering improved ground handling and greater tolerance for student pilots.
- The Elixir+ retains the platform's core characteristics: Carbon OneShot single-piece composite construction, no airframe life limit, and operating costs of approximately $50 per flight hour for fuel and maintenance.
- Global Aviation, an EASA-approved flight training organisation approaching its 30th anniversary, has ordered five Elixir+ aircraft for deployment in VFR training operations at its Ikaros Airport facility north of Athens, with the fleet expected to expand further to support growing pilot training demand in the Mediterranean region.
- Elixir Aircraft currently has 50 aircraft in active operation with over 300 fourth-generation aircraft in its order book through firm orders, pre-orders, and letters of intent. The company was selected by ENAC (École Nationale de l'Aviation Civile) in June 2025 to renew its VFR training fleet.
- Elixir Aircraft is preparing to open a new 15,000 m² production facility in La Rochelle and a reassembly and delivery facility in Sarasota, Florida, to support U.S. market expansion following FAA certification in July 2025.
Statements
- "With the Elixir+, we are taking a new step forward in the development of our aircraft. This evolution is the result of close attention to our customers' feedback and our constant drive for improvement. By increasing capacity while preserving the Elixir's core qualities, we are now offering a solution even better suited to the needs of flight schools," said Arthur Léopold-Léger, President and Co-founder of Elixir Aircraft.
- "We chose the Elixir+ because it aligns perfectly with where we see the future of pilot training heading — technology-driven, operationally agile, and increasingly sustainable. It enables us to deliver a more efficient and forward-looking training environment for our cadets," said Alexandros Tsaktanis, Managing Director of Global Aviation.
