EPC Aviation Takes Delivery of Kenya’s First ELITE PI-1000 Professional AATD

21st Jan 2026

Kenya – A newly established Flight Training Organisation (FTO), EPC Aviation Ltd, has officially taken delivery of its first advanced flight training device: the ELITE PI-1000 FAA-certified Advanced Aviation Training Device (AATD). The simulator has been installed at the Kenya School of Flying Headquarters, located at Nairobi Wilson Airport, marking a significant milestone in the development of professional flight training in Kenya.

The ELITE PI-1000 is a highly versatile G1000 based, convertible Single Engine Piston (SEP) and Multi-Engine Piston (MEP) flight training device. Designed to meet the rigorous standards of modern pilot training, the PI-1000 enables structured, scenario-based instruction across a wide range of training profiles, from ab-initio through advanced and recurrent training.

This delivery represents the first step in EPC Aviation’s broader vision to build what is planned to become the largest and most comprehensive flight training hub in Kenya. The company has confirmed plans to expand its simulator portfolio in the near future, responding to growing demand for high-quality, standardized flight training in the region.

EPC Aviation has also established a strong and collaborative relationship with the Kenyan Civil Aviation Authorities, whose support has been instrumental in the launch of this new training centre at Wilson Airport.

René Huddlestone, Director of Marketing & Sales at ELITE Simulation Solutions, commented: “We are excited to be part of this newly established flight training center in Kenya, and we are already looking forward to supporting EPC Aviation on their future simulator projects.”

Walter Zünd, CEO of EPC Aviation Ltd, added: “For our start project we wanted to work with the best, so naturally ELITE Simulation Solutions was the logical choice in assisting us to bring organized flight training to the region, based on already established flight training syllabi approved by EASA in Europe.

The added official cooperation with ForeFlight, which is also integrated into ELITE’s flight simulator, helps cover the core aspects of modern flight training such as navigation (flight plans, waypoints, approaches), communications, systems monitoring (engine, weather, traffic), autopilot management (GFC700), and emergency procedures including avionics failures and standby instrument operations. These elements are often trained most effectively using simulators and structured courses for practical proficiency in flight planning and execution.

We are very happy with our choice of the ELITE PI-1000 Professional AATD.”

With its advanced simulation capabilities, regulatory alignment, and strategic partnerships, EPC Aviation is positioning itself as a key contributor to the future of pilot training in East Africa, setting new benchmarks for quality, safety, and standardization.
