EVA Air Selects Acron Aviation’s Virtual Flight Deck for its Boeing 787 Fleet

United Kingdom – Acron Aviation Commercial Training Solutions (CTS) has been selected by EVA Air to supply four Boeing 787 Virtual Flight Deck (VFD) units, supporting the airline’s transition to a competency-based training and assessment (CBTA) environment.

The VFD will give EVA Air a flexible and cost-effective way to strengthen aircraft familiarisation and procedural training. Sitting within the airline’s wider pilot training ecosystem, it enables crews to develop their knowledge and confidence before progressing to higher-level training devices and full flight simulators. This helps airlines use each stage of the training journey more effectively while preparing pilots for real-life operations.

Delivering a complete, real-time simulation of the aircraft’s systems and flight deck, the VFD allows pilots and maintenance technicians to operate every panel, control, indicator and display at their own pace. Users can explore aircraft systems, practise procedures and repeat non-normal and emergency scenarios in a readily accessible environment before applying that learning in a full flight simulator.

Built on models developed using OEM aircraft and avionics data, the VFD forms part of CTS’ integrated portfolio of pilot training solutions. It supports standard and customised aircraft configurations, high-fidelity graphics, active system schematics, malfunction insertion, a lesson-plan editor and a free-play environment for independent learning and exploration.
