Taiwan – Aviation training systems provider Acron Aviation has signed an agreement with EVA Airways Corp. to supply its Boeing 787 Virtual Flight Deck (VFD) solution, with the agreement announced during APATS 2026 in Bangkok.
- EVA Air operated 22 Boeing 787s as of August 1, 2026, comprising nine 787-9s and 13 787-10s. The airline also listed eight additional 787-9s and four 787-10s for future delivery.
- Acron Aviation's Virtual Flight Deck provides an interactive software simulation of aircraft systems and the flight deck, allowing users to operate panels, controls, indicators and displays and practise normal and non-normal procedures in a free-play environment
- EVA Air already has dedicated Boeing 787 simulator infrastructure. AFM previously reported that the airline ordered an additional Boeing 787 full-flight simulator from CAE in 2024 for its Taipei Training Centre, where it also operated a Boeing 787 Integrated Procedures Trainer alongside other Airbus, Boeing and ATR training devices.
- EVA Air stated in March 2026 that it planned to recruit nearly 160 pilots during the year. Successful ab-initio candidates undergo approximately two years of training covering ground school, basic flight training and advanced/type-transition training before appointment as First Officers.
- AFM previously reported in April 2025 that All Nippon Airways selected Acron Aviation's Virtual Flight Deck and Virtual Maintenance Trainer technologies. ANA subsequently contracted for a Acron Aviation Boeing 787 FFS, scheduled to enter service in Japan during the second half of 2026.
