Excellentia Airline Academy Launches Aviation Conversations Video Series

South Africa – Johannesburg-based flight training group Excellentia Airline Academy has launched Aviation Conversations, a video series covering pilot training, aviation careers and international student pathways.

• Episode 1 covers South Africa as an international flight training destination, the relationship between SACAA training requirements and ICAO standards, Excellentia’s investment in Sling Aircraft trainers, and DGCA licence-conversion and recency considerations for Indian students.
• Excellentia currently has approximately 100 students in training, with international students representing around 95% of enrolment and India identified as its largest source market.
• The academy operates from Grand Central and Lanseria airports through wholly owned training organizations Skyhawk Aviation and Aeronav Academy. Their approvals include SACAA/1147/ATO, SACAA/1673/ATO and SACAA/1110/ATO.
• Excellentia reports a fleet of nearly 30 aircraft comprising Sling NGTs, Cessna 172s, Piper Archers, Piper Seneca IIIs, Diamond DA20-C1s and Diamond DA42 Twin Stars.
• The group is increasing its use of locally manufactured Sling NGT aircraft as part of a wider fleet-standardization strategy. The aircraft use Rotax 912 iS engines and glass-cockpit avionics.
• AFM previously reported that Excellentia expected 10 additional Sling NGT deliveries while refurbishing 12 Cessna 172 aircraft across its two Johannesburg-area bases.
• AFM also reported that Excellentia was formed after the 2025 acquisitions of Aeronav Academy and Skyhawk Aviation, combining their aircraft, simulators, training approvals and support operations.
