Japan – TRU Simulation + Training Inc., an affiliate of Textron and Bell Textron Inc., has announced that its SUBARU Bell 412EPX Flight Training Device (FTD) has received Level 5 qualification from the Japanese Civil Aviation Bureau (JCAB). The qualification marks a major step forward in enhancing rotorcraft training capabilities in Japan, particularly for missions involving public service and search and rescue (SAR) operations.
The JCAB qualification certifies TRU’s SUBARU Bell 412EPX FTD as a high-fidelity training device capable of simulating a wide range of operational scenarios, including ground emergencies, in-flight failures, and complex mission environments.
This is the second TRU-built FTD delivered to SUBARU, reflecting the continued modernisation of SUBARU’s pilot training infrastructure with simulation-led learning environments.
The FTD is equipped to support both VFR and IFR training, with advanced engine, control, aerodynamic, and sound models designed for maximum realism.
The simulator also features a custom-built visual database for SAR training, supporting mission readiness and technical proficiency for Japanese rotorcraft pilots.
The delivery underscores TRU’s growing presence in the Asia-Pacific helicopter training market and highlights its ability to meet stringent local regulatory standards.
Bell, as a co-developer of the 412EPX platform with SUBARU, continues to support global rotorcraft operations through its OEM-aligned training solutions.
