Singapore — Flight Training Alliance (FTA), a joint venture between Lufthansa Aviation Training (LAT) and CAE – and the Airbus Authorized Training Provider for global A220 training solutions – is collaborating with Airbus to establish an Airbus A220 training capability in Singapore. As part of the agreement, a new CAE 7000XR full-flight simulator will be deployed at the Airbus Asia Training Centre (AATC) in Singapore in 2027.
The deployment marks FTA's first Airbus A220 training expansion into Asia-Pacific and represents an important step in supporting the region’s growing demand for pilot training. The simulator will provide A220 airline operators with world-class training closer to where demand is emerging, supporting the safe, efficient and successful entry into service of their aircraft.
Through this partnership, FTA will deploy an Airbus A220 full-flight-simulator, while the Airbus Asia Training Centre (AATC) will manage operations and training delivery. This new capability will support operators across Asia-Pacific, one of the world's fastest-growing aviation markets, while ensuring airlines benefit from training that meets the highest Airbus and operational standards.
“Asia-Pacific continues to be one of the most dynamic aviation regions in the world, with expanding fleets driving demand for qualified pilots,” said Susanne Kuehl, Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer, FTA. “By expanding A220 training capacity in Singapore, we are bringing high-fidelity training closer to our customers and helping ensure pilots have access to the training and resources they need to support safe and efficient operations. This deployment reflects FTA’s commitment to supporting our customers' growth and helping develop the skilled aviation workforce required for the region's future.”
This agreement is a testament to the long-standing collaboration between FTA and Airbus. FTA has been supporting Airbus A220 operators through its existing training operations in Frankfurt, Zurich and Rome. That expertise will now extend to the Asia-Pacific region to help meet increasing industry demand and support the development of a skilled and qualified pilot workforce.
