Ohio, USA – P&N Flight & Charter has announced that it is transitioning its entry‑level pilot training operations at the former Marion Municipal Airport to a new provider, V1 Flight. The hand‑over ends nearly 39 years of P&N’s ab initio training at the Marion site.
- V1 Flight will assume responsibility for Private Pilot License (PPL) and Instrument Rating students based at Marion, Iowa.
- P&N Flight & Charter will shift its strategic focus toward advanced and specialty training programmes, including multi‑engine, helicopter, hot‑air balloon, complex/high‑performance, tail‑wheel and high‑altitude endorsements.
- The change coincides with the airport’s private‑ownership transition after the city voted to sell the runway asset earlier this year—ending municipal ownership of the facility.
- P&N is also expanding its on‑demand air charter services and has obtained an FAA Part 135 certificate for a pressurised Piper PA‑46‑350P Mirage, enabling higher‑performance charter operations from its Cedar Rapids area base.
- The school has launched an aircraft‑leasing programme this fall—placing six training aircraft with partner flight schools in multiple U.S. states while retaining operational control of aircraft used for its advanced training portfolio.
Statement
- According to P&N President and FAA Designated Pilot Examiner Cole Norton, the transition allows P&N to “have a larger positive impact on aviation and safety from the background rather than exclusively on the customer‑facing side.”
