FlightLogger: One Operating System for the Entire Flight School

In this week’s AFM Pilot Training Leadership Interview Series, we speak with Kasper Valgren, CEO of FlightLogger - an all-in-one digital platform and operating system designed to manage flight schools and aviation training organizations.

• FlightLogger’s vision: becoming the operating system for flight schools: Kasper Valgren explained that FlightLogger is evolving from a training management system into a complete flight school operating system. The goal is to centralize scheduling, student progress tracking, compliance management, documentation, aircraft and simulator utilization, eliminating the need for multiple disconnected systems, spreadsheets, and paper records.

• Improving student progression and training efficiency: One of FlightLogger’s key innovations is the Student Progression Module, which helps flight schools monitor whether students are progressing at the required pace. By comparing planned and actual training progress, schools can identify delays early, intervene proactively, and improve graduation timelines while optimizing the use of training resources.

• Addressing the pilot shortage through better training capacity: According to Kasper, the aviation industry’s biggest challenge is not attracting future pilots but ensuring training organizations can produce enough qualified pilots without compromising quality. FlightLogger focuses on increasing training throughput by reducing administrative workload, improving instructor utilization, optimizing scheduling, and helping schools stay audit-ready throughout the year.

• Key trends shaping the future of pilot training: Kasper highlighted three major trends influencing the industry: the growing adoption of Competency-Based Training and Assessment (CBTA), the increasing use of AI and immersive technologies in training, and the continued digitalization of training records and operations. He emphasized that data-driven training environments will be essential for supporting both advanced training methodologies and future technological developments.

• A customer-driven approach to product development: What differentiates FlightLogger, according to Kasper, is its strong aviation heritage and close collaboration with customers. Built originally by aviation professionals, the platform now serves more than 200 flight schools in 50 countries, with product development guided directly by customer feedback through initiatives such as the Customer Advisory Board. This ensures that new features solve real operational challenges faced by flight training organizations worldwide.
