Florida, USA – SkyEagle Aviation Academy, an FAA Part 141 and Part 61 flight training operation based at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport (KFXE), is recruiting a General Manager to oversee all operational departments as the academy continues to grow its multi-programme training operation.
Role Description
The General Manager oversees all operational departments, including the Flight Department, Sales Department, Maintenance Department, and ATP-CTP program. This is a hands-on leadership role with full operational authority and direct accountability to ownership. The GM is the senior operational decision-maker on site and is responsible for the safety, compliance, financial performance, and quality of the academy.
Qualifications
Oversee day-to-day flight school and ATP-CTP operations, ensuring FAA Part 141 compliance and the highest standards of safety and training quality
Maintain and renew Part 141 certification documentation, including Training Course Outlines, Training Specifications, and instructor currency records
Manage instructor hiring, onboarding, standardization, performance, and retention
Drive student success through structured training plans, high checkride pass rates (target above 80%), and proactive intervention when students fall behind
Maintain positive, professional relationships with FAA representatives, including the POI and FSDO contacts
Lead the Sales Department to achieve enrollment and revenue targets, with active involvement in pipeline strategy and customer escalations
Oversee aircraft maintenance coordination in partnership with the Director of Maintenance
Monitor financial performance and take operational corrective action to maintain positive cash flow and meet annual KPIs
Manage and develop direct reports across flight operations, sales, and ground operations
Report directly to ownership with timely, accurate operational and financial updates
Qualifications
Active or former pilot strongly preferred. Strong preference for candidates who hold or have held an ATP certificate, multi-engine rating, CFI, CFII, or MEI. Instructor certificates and hands-on flight training experience are a significant advantage
In-depth knowledge of FAA Part 141, Part 61, and Part 91 regulations, including Training Specifications, compliance requirements, and the biennial renewal process
Experience with ATP-CTP certification courses, including program logistics, syllabus structure, simulator coordination, and regulatory requirements
Proven experience managing a flight training operation, including instructors, students, and administrative staff
Strong financial literacy and ability to manage against revenue and profitability targets. Required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including FAA-facing correspondence
Experience with Flight Schedule Pro or comparable student management systems is a plus
Proficiency with CRM systems (HubSpot or similar) preferred
Must be able to work on site at KFXE; remote flexibility available for appropriate tasks with ownership approval
