Jacksonville, Florida, USA - Sterling Flight Training, a FAR Part 141 and Part 61 flight school, is seeking a General Manager to oversee its operations, staff, finances, and compliance. Based at CRG in Jacksonville, FL, the role offers the opportunity to lead a respected flight school with a strong reputation and supportive culture.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Oversight

  • Manage daily operations, including flight scheduling, maintenance coordination, and staff assignments
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and aviation regulations
  • Oversee student invoicing, tracking progress, and managing applications
  • Work with the VA, university partners, and manage international student requirements
  • Address facility needs across both CRG and satellite locations (TLH)
  • Maintain vendor relations and ensure safety of aircraft, students, instructors, and maintenance
Staff Management
  • Hire, train, and manage instructors, maintenance, and administrative personnel
  • Set team performance goals and provide regular feedback
Customer Service
  • Foster a welcoming environment for students and customers
  • Resolve complaints and maintain professional relations with students, associates, and vendors
Financial Management
  • Manage budgets, track expenses, and support accounting needs to ensure profitability
Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with all governmental regulations
  • Oversee training programs and aircraft maintenance to meet legal requirements
Marketing
  • Collaborate on strategies to attract new students
  • Build partnerships with local schools and aviation organizations
Candidate Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in aviation management, business, or related field
  • Experience in aviation operations or management (flight school experience preferred)
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Financial management and organizational expertise
  • Problem-solving under pressure and team leadership skills
  • Commitment to high safety standards and delivering a positive student experience
  • Ability to identify growth opportunities
Location
  • Must be able to commute daily to the CRG facility in Jacksonville, FL
