Armenia – Armenian airline FLYONE Armenia has finalised its first direct aircraft order with Airbus, covering two A321neo aircraft powered by CFM International LEAP-1A engines. The fleet expansion builds on an existing A320-family operation and will increase the carrier’s requirement for A321neo flight crew qualification, recurrent training and operational readiness.

  • The two A321neos will each be configured with 239 seats in an all-economy layout. Airbus said FLYONE Armenia currently operates 11 A320 Family aircraft.
  • The firm order follows a Memorandum of Understanding announced during French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to Yerevan on May 5, 2026. The September 30 agreement converts that earlier commitment into FLYONE Armenia’s first direct purchase from Airbus.
  • FLYONE selected CFM International LEAP-1A engines for the aircraft in July 2026. At that stage, the airline said the new A321neos would support further network and operational expansion.
  • FLYONE Armenia operates scheduled and charter services from its base at Zvartnots International Airport and serves more than 26 destinations across Europe, the Middle East and CIS markets. The airline began operations in 2021.

Statements

  • “Our first direct order with Airbus marks an important and symbolic milestone in FLYONE Armenia’s development. Having two new A321neo aircraft built by Airbus specifically for our  airline reflects our continued commitment to fleet modernisation and long-term growth. We are proud to strengthen our partnership with Airbus and are confident that this investment will support not only FLYONE Armenia’s future development, but also the continued growth of Armenia’s civil aviation sector and its international cooperation,” said Aram Khachatryan, CEO of FLYONE Armenia.
  • “This first direct order from FLYONE Armenia underscores the airline's commitment for operational excellence and enhanced passenger comfort as it continues to expand its A320 Family fleet. We are very happy to welcome FLYONE as a new member of the Airbus family and we look forward to a deep and fruitful collaboration together to support their strategic growth plans,” said Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, EVP Sales of the Commercial Aircraft business at Airbus.
