Flytpath Aviation Advances FP7+ Simulator Build with CNC-Machined Rudder Pedal Assembly

Maine, USA – Portland-based simulator manufacturer Flytpath Aviation has revealed a CNC-machined rudder pedal assembly being developed for its FP7+ Cirrus SR-series training device. The component milestone follows integration of the simulator's cockpit and motion platform and moves the first unit further toward planned deployment at Mike Goulian Aviation in Massachusetts.

  • The FP7+ is built around a six-degree-of-freedom motion platform, providing pitch, roll, yaw, surge, sway and heave movement. Flytpath is developing the system initially around the Cirrus G7+ configuration for use by flight schools, Cirrus Training Centers, university programs and other general aviation training providers.
  • Flytpath said the newly shown rudder pedal assembly is CNC-machined and purpose-built for the simulator rather than based on an off-the-shelf flight-simulation component. The company said its engineering objective is to provide consistent control feel and tactile feedback representative of the aircraft environment.
  • The rudder pedal development forms part of Flytpath's broader approach of designing its own flight-control hardware. The company has previously stated that the FP7+ incorporates active control loading intended to reproduce control forces, vibration and feedback experienced during aircraft operation.
  • AFM previously reported that Flytpath mounted the FP7+'s fully enclosed two-seat cockpit onto its complete motion platform in August 2026 and began structural and motion integration testing. At that stage, the device remained in an unfinished configuration, with final surface treatment and additional integration work still to follow.
  • The first FP7+ is planned for deployment at Mike Goulian Aviation's Hanscom Field operation in Bedford, Massachusetts. The training provider is a Cirrus Platinum Training Center, and Flytpath identifies it as the launch location for the platform.
  • The device combines physical motion with Varjo XR-4 mixed-reality technology, an instructor operating station and scenario-based training functions. Flytpath has also integrated KEYVAN Aviation's ARINC 424 aeronautical navigation database into the platform for airport, procedure, airway and navigation data.
  • The development targets a segment generally served by fixed-base Aviation Training Devices rather than airline Full Flight Simulators. Flytpath describes the FP7+ as providing fidelity approaching higher-level commercial simulator environments.
  • Flytpath's current product information describes the FP7+ as being developed toward FAA Advanced Aviation Training Device compliance, with approval still pending.
