Germany – AirTaxi Express AG, a German air taxi operator, has selected the Tecnam P2006T NG twin-engine aircraft for commercial Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) operations across Europe, expanding from its initial VFR ultralight operations with the Tecnam P92 Echo MKII.
- AirTaxi Express will operate the P2006T NG under a German Air Operator Certificate (AOC), enabling reliable all-weather IFR flights across the European continent for its regional air taxi services.
- The company initially launched operations in Germany using the single-engine Tecnam P92 Echo MKII for VFR ultralight air taxi services, with the P2006T NG representing a strategic upgrade driven by market demand for IFR-capable regional travel.
- AirTaxi Express cites the P2006T NG's low operating costs as enabling affordable ticket pricing, with the company claiming passengers save approximately 70% in travel time compared with trains or cars.
- The P2006T NG is widely used as a multi-engine training platform across European flight schools, providing AirTaxi Express with a broad pool of pilots already type-experienced on the aircraft, simplifying crew recruitment and integration.
- The fleet expansion was announced at the AERO Friedrichshafen exhibition on 23 April.
