Global Fighter Jet Production Reaches Record Levels Amid Rising Allied Demand

November 4, 2025

USA - Lockheed Martin is on pace to achieve a record year for F-35 Lightning II deliveries in 2025, projecting total handovers of between 170 and 190 aircraft—the highest annual total since the program’s inception. Company officials confirmed that 143 jets had been delivered through the end of the third quarter, already surpassing the manufacturer’s previous annual record of 142 aircraft set in 2022.

  • The milestone underscores the maturing production efficiency of the F-35 program, which remains the largest and most advanced multirole fighter aircraft production effort in history.
  • Lockheed Martin continues to deliver F-35 variants to the U.S. Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps, alongside international partners including the United Kingdom, Italy, Japan, and Australia.
  • The Finnish Air Force is expected to receive its first F-35 in the coming months, joining a global fleet that now exceeds 1,200 aircraft in service.
  • The Fort Worth production facility remains the program’s central assembly site, supported by additional manufacturing and maintenance hubs in Italy and Japan.
  • Company officials highlighted that 2025’s record output reflects improvements in supply chain resilience, workforce productivity, and production line modernization, following challenges seen in previous years.
