Airways Aviation Group,represented by its Founder & Chairman, Mr.Romy HawattanditsCOO& CCO,Mr.Alexandre Alves,signed this week two (2) MoU in Cape Verde with the goal of implementing a new Aviation academy in the country and supporting the government applying their strategic vision for the sector starting by helping UTA (Technical University of the Atlantic) to establish the Institute of Aeronautics and Tourism.
During the visit several meetings and discussions with stakeholderswereheld,such asthe Minister ofDefense,JanineLelis,the Minister of Tourism and Transportation,Carlos Santos,the Minister of Education,AmadeuCruzand their respective staff; theCEOofTACV– Cabo Verde Airlines, Sara Pires;the Rector of UTA,Joao do Monte Duarte;the board ofASA(airports and air traffic control),leadbyJorgeBenchimolDuarteand the board of AAC,the national aviation authority represented byCarlos RodriguesandSeilaPires.
This highly successful visit will lead very soon to the opening of a new Aviation Academy in the country willing not only to provide the local market with a vast portfolio of courses but also the regional market.All ofthe training capacity of Airways Aviationfrom ground handling tomaintenancetechicians, from cabin crew to pilot training, all will be available.
“The expansion to Africa is a key in the strategy ofAirways Aviation Group,having started in January with the opening ofSenegal,with Morocco which will start in the next couple of months and now also with Cape Verde.We consider Cape Verde as an essential part of our strategy.Thecountryrepresentsmuchmorethanwhatthesizeofitsdomesticmarketshowsatfirst.We want tobeconsideredapartnerofallstakeholders,publicandprivate,civilianandmilitary in awaythatwecanputatserviceourexperienceofover35yearsandourvastnetworkwhichpresentsacoordinatetrainingoffer.We believe that we can start first courses in the next couple of months in Sal, SaoVicenteand Praia.” said Alexandre Alves, COO & CCO.
