"Job Description:

General responsibilities of the Aviation Academic Instruction position consist of providing exceptional instruction of all pilot ground school training conducted at the academy for customers receiving certification and ratings with a structured curriculum. Aviation Academic Instructors should also anticipate coordinating and provide instruction for any Academic make up and remedial training for unsatisfactory attempts at examinations.

Essential Functions:

• Provide a high level of classroom instruction to all Academy students.
• Develop and update ground school instructional material as needed.
• Develop and maintain ground school exams.
• Generate academic progress reports as needed.
• Ensure accurate and complete academic student records.
• Mentor all students.
• Coordinate and provide instruction for any students who need remedial training or classroom make up times.
• Coordinate and oversee the scheduling and attendance of LRC tutors.
• Oversee applicable knowledge testing schedules with the expectation to coordinate and oversee any additional training.

Qualifications:

• Ground Instructor Certificate (Advanced and Instrument), OR Flight Instructor Certificate with ASE/IA required (MEI preferred).
• Commercial Pilot Certificate with Airplane Single-engine and Instrument ratings required (multi-engine preferred).
• Associates Degree or higher preferred.

Preferred Additional Skills:

• Previous classroom teaching experience preferred.
• Willing to work a flexible schedule.
• Previous Part 141 Pilot School or College Aviation Program teaching experience."
