Global Flight Training Group AeroGuard Flight Training Center which operates a fleet of over 90 training aircraft across its numerous campus locations in the US has released the a statement to its students affected by Hurricane Ian which hit Florida last week.

The Hurricane caused significant damage to AeroGuard’s Florida Campus, has affected its Florida operations and has resulted in swift action by the Group’s leadership team to ensure students affected can continue their training without much interruption. While the group works on re-opening the campus, Florida students are offered the opportunity to transfer to any other AeroGuard campus and will receive free housing in AeroGuard’s students accommodation until the Florida campus re-opens.

Statement from AeroGuard;

“To AeroGuard PGD Students,

First and foremost, the entire AeroGuard team are saddened to hear about the destruction left by Hurricane Ian and hope you and your family are doing well. While the future of the PGD campus may not be at the forefront of your mind, we wanted to make sure we provided the most up to date information so that you can plan accordingly.

For those of you who are not aware, there has been significant damage to AeroGuard’s training office, hangar, and airplanes, rendering all inoperable for training. While we do plan on reopening the campus and are currently working with the airport team on a plan of reconstruction, given the extensive damage both at the airport and the surrounding area, we do expect this to be a long process. As of this time, we have had only limited interaction with PGD airport personnel due to their focus on other pressing issues, and we have had no communication regarding options for a new training building or maintenance space. Therefore, we anticipate that news of a resumption of activities at Punta Gorda will be closer in timeline to months rather than weeks.

As a student in our program, and to keep you working toward your goal as a professional airline pilot, AeroGuard would like to offer you an opportunity to transfer to any other AeroGuard campus to maintain your progress in the program until such time when we can provide more definitive answers for the re-opening of PGD. Under this alternative, you will receive free housing in our student accommodations (you will be responsible for moving to the local area) until such time the PGD campus reopens. This free housing would last until the PGD campus re-opens, or for as long as it reasonably takes you to complete the Pathway Program based on your current point in training. If you are currently paying for student housing with one of our loan partners, this amount would be refunded to the lender, or could be disbursed to you as a stipend to help in your cost of living. AeroGuard strongly urges you to consider taking advantage of this opportunity so that you do not lose significant time in your training and the development of your pilot career.
