South Korea – CAE has been selected by Korea Airports Corporation (KAC) as its training partner for a further five years, extending a relationship that has spanned nearly a decade since 2017. The contract renewal was formalised at a signing ceremony at the CAE Korea training centre attended by The Honourable Maninder Sidhu, Canada's Minister of International Trade.
- Under the renewed partnership, CAE Korea will continue to provide full flight simulator training for pilots from nine commercial airlines operating in South Korea, as well as supporting the Republic of Korea Air Force and Republic of Korea Navy — reflecting the centre's dual civil-military training role.
- CAE Korea has been operating in South Korea since 2012 and has progressively expanded its simulator fleet. In November 2024, the company inaugurated its ninth simulator in the country — a new Boeing 737 MAX full flight simulator at the CAE Korea training centre near Gimpo Airport — further strengthening its capacity to serve Korean carriers.
- The contract renewal comes in the context of significant pilot demand growth in the Asia-Pacific region. CAE's 2025 Aviation Talent Forecast projects that the region will require more than 98,000 new commercial pilots over the next decade, underscoring the strategic importance of established training infrastructure and partnerships.
- The presence of Canada's Minister of International Trade at the ceremony highlights the bilateral dimension of the partnership, showcasing Canadian expertise and innovation in aviation training on the global stage. In November 2024, Canada's Ambassador to Korea Tamara Mawhinney similarly attended the Boeing 737 MAX simulator inauguration at CAE Korea.
