Greece – Greek flight training organization Egnatia Aviation has highlighted its continued participation in AEGEAN Airlines' Pilot Scholarship Program for the January 2027 training cycle. The airline-supported pathway provides financial assistance for aspiring Greek and Cypriot pilots undertaking commercial flight training, with the opportunity to progress into flight crew positions at AEGEAN or Olympic Air.

  • AEGEAN is offering up to 40 scholarships across its overall 2027 pilot training program, with training scheduled to commence on January 11, 2027. The full-time program runs for approximately 18–20 months, combining theoretical instruction, practical flight training and simulator-based training.
  • The scholarship covers the majority of training costs, which AEGEAN estimates at approximately €100,000 (US$112,500) per candidate for the complete pathway. The program includes Integrated Commercial Pilot Licence training with Multi-Crew Cooperation (MCC), followed by aircraft type rating training at the AEGEAN | CAE Flight Training Center.
  • The application period closed on October 16, 2026, at 21:00 Greece time. Eligibility was restricted to Greek and Cypriot nationals born after January 1, 1998, with a high school diploma and proficiency in Greek and English, alongside applicable military service requirements.
  • Since launching the scholarship initiative in 2018, AEGEAN reports that more than 280 candidates have participated, including 150 graduates who have entered flight crew positions with AEGEAN and Olympic Air. A further 88 candidates were undergoing training when the latest scholarship cycle was announced in June 2026.
  • AEGEAN's cumulative investment in the Pilot Scholarship Program has exceeded €17 million (approximately US$19.1 million), supporting the development of a domestic pilot recruitment pipeline through its flight training partnerships.
  • AFM previously reported that AEGEAN announced the 40-place 2027 scholarship cycle in July 2026. Egnatia Aviation had also welcomed its eighth AEGEAN cadet batch earlier in the year, with 16 students commencing training in March 2026. The academy reported 139 AEGEAN cadets enrolled across its preceding seven batches since the partnership began in 2018.
