Greek Flight Training Group Egnatia Aviation Celebrates Grand Opening of Lydia Airport

Egnatia Aviation, one of Greece’s largest flight training organisations located in Kavala, marked a significant milestone on May 14, 2024 with the grand opening of Lydia Airport. This landmark event brought together key figures from the aviation industry, academia, and government to witness the unveiling of this state-of-the-art facility. Among them were:

  • Christina Alexopoulou, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport
  • George Zografakis, CEO Egnatia Aviation Group
  • Dimitris Lymperakis, Managing Director Egnatia Aviation Group
  • George Triantafyllidis, Chief Commercial Officer Egnatia Aviation Group
  • and Panagiotis Siskos, Head Of Training Aegean Group

Demonstrating leadership and vision, Egnatia Aviation’s new venture is set to enhance training capabilities and foster growth in the aviation sector. The successful inauguration of operations on multiple levels not only highlights Egnatia’s commitment to excellence but also sets a new standard for pilot training and aviation services in Greece and Europe.

In 2023 Egnatia Aviation announced it had completed the construction and renovation of Lydia Aerodrome, the first General Aviation Airport in the country, in Amygdaleonas, Kavala. The creation of the new aerodrome came from an investment of 6 million euros funded by the Aviation Equity Fund and will double Egnatia Aviation’s pilot training capacity to 400, and other aviation services.
