Türkiye & Spain – HAVELSAN, a flight simulator manufacturer, has announced that it will export the full mission and flight training simulator developed for the HÜRJET advanced jet trainer to Spain.

  • In December 2025, Spain signed a contract with Türkiye to purchase 30 HÜRJET jet trainer aircraft in a deal valued at Euro 2.6 billion, making the program Türkiye's first major export success for the platform.
  • As part of the agreement, HAVELSAN will supply the accompanying full mission and flight training simulator to Spain, with the export model structured so that every country purchasing the HÜRJET will receive a domestically developed simulator alongside the aircraft.
  • The simulator is expected to be delivered to the Turkish Air Force in the fourth quarter of 2026, ahead of the aircraft's export to Spain.
  • The HÜRJET is scheduled to enter service in Türkiye in 2027 and in Spain in 2028, with Spain using the platform to replace its existing F-5 (AE.09) trainer aircraft.
  • The simulator is designed to support pilot training, mission planning, and pre-flight preparation, allowing air forces to rehearse operational scenarios before live flights.
  • The HÜRJET incorporates a next-generation embedded simulator that enables pilots to conduct virtual mission and combat training scenarios during actual flights, extending pilot training hours without relying on ground-based visual infrastructure.
  • HAVELSAN engineers began work on the HÜRJET simulator three years ago, contributing to the aircraft's engineering tests, cockpit scenarios, and validation processes. The company is applying the same engineering approach to KAAN, Türkiye's domestically developed next-generation combat aircraft.

Statements

  • "We have reached the capacity to provide simulator software and all data packages to the company responsible for simulator production in Spain," said Dr. Mehmet Akif Nacar, General Manager of HAVELSAN.

Ankara headquartered flight simulator manufacturer HAVELSAN earlier this month had broken ground on a new flight simulator production and integration facility that will significantly expand its manufacturing capacity for civil and military simulators.

  • The groundbreaking ceremony for the new 17,000-square-meter facility was chaired by the President of the Republic of Türkiye, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and attended by HAVELSAN Chairman Prof. Dr. Hacı Ali Mantar and CEO Dr. Mehmet Akif Nacar, along with senior government officials and industry representatives.
  • Once completed, the new Simulator Production and Integration Facility will allow HAVELSAN to produce more than 30 flight simulators annually while enabling the simultaneous development of up to 16 simulators at different stages of production and integration. Combined with HAVELSAN’s existing infrastructure in Ankara, the company’s total capacity will reach up to 40 commercial and military simulators under development and operation at any given time.
  • The expansion will position HAVELSAN as the largest full flight simulator production center in Europe and the Middle East, reinforcing Türkiye’s growing role in the global flight simulation and aviation training industry.
