France – X-R Solutions, a French mixed reality pilot training startup founded by engineers and experienced pilots, has signed a partnership with Air France to deploy immersive technologies for pilot training, with two initial use cases: a virtual reality flight safety debrief experience and immersive training for the complex, mountainous approach environment at Florence Airport (FLR), Italy.

X-R Solutions and Air France will develop two initial use cases under the partnership:
- Virtual reality flight safety debriefing: A VR-based debrief experience recreating actual flights, allowing crews to revisit operational situations, analyse decisions, and enhance learning in an immersive environment.
- Virtual familiarisation with complex operating environments: Immersive training for Florence Airport (FLR), Italy — an airport known for significant operational constraints and mountainous surroundings — enabling crews to visualise potential threats before operating there.
X-R Solutions offers a mobile, customisable mixed reality solution positioned between home tablet training and full flight simulators, aimed at delivering cost-efficient immersive learning that increases retention and enables self-practice.
The partnership represents a milestone for X-R Solutions as a startup working with a global aviation flag carrier, and demonstrates the growing integration of immersive technologies into safety and training programmes at major airlines.
