India – Pilot training and cadet program provider Insight Aviation has marked the completion of a Letter of Intent ceremony for 17 aspiring pilots selected for the IndiGo Cadet Pilot Programme on July 30, 2026.
- Under Insight Aviation’s current selection process, the IndiGo final interview is the last assessment stage before successful candidates receive an LOI and are required to enter agreements with both IndiGo and Insight Aviation.
- The current Insight pathway begins with approximately four months of ground school in India, comprising 470 hours of structured theoretical instruction, before the flying phase.
- Flight training is primarily delivered through 43 Air School in South Africa. Insight’s published syllabus allocates 168 hours of single-engine flying on Piper Cherokee, Piper Arrow and Cessna 172 aircraft, 15 hours of multi-engine training on Piper Seneca aircraft and 46 hours of simulator training.
- Cadets subsequently return to India for approximately four months of DGCA licence conversion, including 17 hours of Cessna 172 flight training and checks for the DGCA CPL single-engine Instrument Rating.
- The final training phase is an Airbus A320 type rating of approximately two months conducted to the DGCA-approved Airbus syllabus at an approved training centre. Insight states that successful completion of the required licence skill test prepares cadets for induction into IndiGo as Junior First Officers.
- 43 Air School currently reports more than 70 aircraft and more than 75 instructors at its South African operation. Insight’s programme materials identify Cessna 172, Piper Cherokee, Piper Arrow and Piper Seneca aircraft within the IndiGo pathway.
- IndiGo’s parent InterGlobe currently reports a fleet of 440 aircraft, comprising 180 A320neos, 171 A321neos, 46 ATRs, 27 A320ceos, three A321 freighters, one A321XLR, five Boeing 737s, two Boeing 777s and five Boeing 787s.
