India – Indian flight training organisation Dunes Aviation Academy has begun its inaugural batch of cadets under Akasa Air’s SkyCadet Pilot Training Programme, with the cohort starting its training journey on September 14, 2026.
- The SkyCadet pathway comprises three training phases: ground school, Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) flight training and Boeing 737 MAX type rating. Akasa states that the final phase includes full-flight simulator sessions, aircraft systems training, standard operating procedures and performance-based training on the 737 MAX.
- Cadets allocated to Dunes undertake part of their training at Bhavnagar in Gujarat.
- Dunes currently reports a 14-aircraft training fleet comprising 11 Piper Archer DX aircraft, two Cessna 172S aircraft and one Diamond DA42. Its flying operations extend across Bhavnagar Airport in Gujarat and Hamirgarh Airstrip at Bhilwara in Rajasthan.
- AFM previously reported that Akasa Air had placed firm orders covering 226 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft and introduced its SkyCadet pathway as part of its longer-term pilot development requirements. Akasa subsequently reported in September 2026 that the arrival of Boeing 737 MAX 8-200 VT-YBT increased its fleet to 43 aircraft.
