India - according to media reporting Adani Group’s defence and aerospace arm might be evaluating the acquisition of Flight Simulation Technique Centre (FSTC), one of India’s largest independent pilot training organisations. If completed, the transaction would mark Adani Group’s entry into the commercial aviation training sector and significantly expand its presence across aviation, defence, and aerospace. FSTC, established in 2012, operates full-flight simulator centres in Gurugram, Hyderabad and Mumbai, along with four flying schools located in Haryana, Surat and Solapur. Its customer base spans Indian defence forces and major commercial airlines. The potential acquisition could be executed through Horizon Aero Solutions, a 50:50 joint venture between Adani Defence Systems and Technologies (ADST) and Prime Aero, whose owner is linked to Nationalist Congress Party leader Praful Patel. ADST, a subsidiary of Adani Enterprises, has expanded aggressively across aviation services. Recent moves include the acquisition of Air Works for MRO capabilities and a 50% stake in Indamer Technics. Adani has invested approximately INR 5,000 crore into defence and aerospace and plans further expansion. A successful deal would position ADST to address growing demand for pilot training capacity in India. Airlines and defence forces increasingly require access to simulator hours, driven by rising traffic volumes, pilot shortages, higher defence spending and more advanced aircraft systems. FSTC reported revenues of INR 214.5 crore and operating profit of INR 124.2 crore in FY24, supported by ongoing investment in new simulators and training aircraft. Source: Indian Media Reporting
