India – The Telangana Intermediate Education Department has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with IndiGoReach, the CSR arm of IndiGo (India's largest airline), and its implementation partner BharatCares (SMEC Trust), to support commercial pilot training for female students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds through the 'Giving Wings to Fly' programme.
- The 'Giving Wings to Fly' programme provides CPL training with ATR type rating, alongside accommodation, meals, medical insurance, mentorship, and career guidance.
- The initiative spans approximately 20 months and targets eligible female Indian citizens seeking commercial pilot licences.
- The Telangana Intermediate Education Department will disseminate programme information across intermediate colleges and student networks; BharatCares will provide outreach materials, webinars, and counselling support.
- Eligible students can apply via the official portal at indigoreachgwf.scholarsbox.in.
- Attendees at the MoU signing included Abhilasha Abhinav (Director, Intermediate Education Department), Yenkya Naik (Joint Director, Department of Intermediate Education), Dr Jyothsna Rani (Principal, SIVE), and C. Sai (BharatCares representative).
