India’s Low-Cost Sector to See Further Fleet Expansion in 2026

November 23, 2025

India – Air India Express, the Tata Group’s low-cost subsidiary, is preparing to add 20–24 new aircraft in 2026, expanding its current fleet of 110 aircraft. The update was confirmed by Managing Director Aloke Singh, who noted that future induction rates will depend on supply-chain stability and progress at Boeing’s production facilities.

  • The airline has added 50 “white-tail” Boeing 737 aircraft over the past 20 months, alongside 16 Airbus A320/A321 aircraft, marking one of the fastest recent fleet expansions in India’s LCC sector.
  • Singh noted that the fleet has been expanding at a rate of 3 to 3.5 aircraft per month, and that the airline expects Boeing to complete deliveries for its full 737 MAX order by 2030.
