Indonesia's Perkasa Flight School Receives CASA Papua New Guinea Approval and Recruits First PNG Students

Indonesia & Papua New Guinea – Indonesian flight training organisation Perkasa Flight School has received approval from the Civil Aviation Safety Authority of Papua New Guinea (CASA PNG), adding Papua New Guinea to the overseas markets from which the academy can recruit students under aviation-authority recognition.

• A pilot career seminar held at Airways Hotel in Port Moresby on August 22, 2026 attracted 50 aspiring pilots, according to Perkasa. The school said more than seven participants enrolled immediately following the event, while other attendees are expected to pursue enrolment after completing high school.
• International Computer College in Port Moresby, which promoted the seminar, identified Perkasa’s CASA PNG approval as Aviation Training Organisation Certificate No. 141/020, issued on June 23, 2026.
• Perkasa Chief Executive Septo Sudiro stated that the Papua New Guinea authorisation joins approvals from Indonesia’s DGCA, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, Myanmar’s DCA and the DCA of Lao PDR.
• The school currently operates 19 training aircraft comprising three Cessna 172s, 13 Piper Warriors and three Piper Senecas. Its published facilities also include two Redbird full-motion simulators.
• Perkasa operates training bases at Tunggul Wulung Airport in Cilacap, Nusawiru Airport in Pangandaran and Jenderal Ahmad Yani Airport in Semarang. Its ab-initio programme is advertised with an approximate training duration of 14–16 months and an aircraft-to-student ratio of approximately 1:5.
• The academy offers PPL, CPL with single- and multi-engine instrument training, Multi-Engine Rating, ATPL theory, Flight Instructor and other conversion and refresher programmes under its Indonesian approval.
• Perkasa has also expanded its airline-linked activity. Myanmar Airways International selected the academy for its cadet pilot programme in 2026, with the first batch beginning training on July 6, while VietJet Aviation Academy previously deployed cadets to Perkasa for basic flight training in Indonesia.
• AFM previously reported that Perkasa partnered with Indonesian government-owned Akademi Penerbang Indonesia Banyuwangi in July 2025 to increase training capacity following international partnerships in markets including Vietnam and Libya. AFM also reported in October 2025 that VietJet Aviation Academy cadets had progressed to basic flight training at Perkasa.
