Syria – UAE-headquartered pilot training group Intercontinental Aviation Academy (FlyIAA) has welcomed its first cohort of Syrian pilot cadets following an Open Day and Induction Day in Damascus in September 2026. The intake marks the academy's progression from student recruitment activities in Syria to enrollment in its international professional pilot training network.

  • Eight students were inducted into FlyIAA's new "Tomcats" batch, representing the academy's first confirmed Syrian cadet intake. The Damascus event attracted more than 100 attendees, including prospective students and their families.
  • The induction formed part of FlyIAA's expanding student recruitment activities in Syria, providing prospective trainees with information on professional pilot training pathways, entry requirements and opportunities within the academy's international training network.
  • Captain Al Hareth Bin Sama delivered a presentation covering professional pilot training requirements and career progression, followed by discussions with prospective students about entering the aviation industry.
  • FlyIAA opened its Damascus office on 26 July 2026 to provide local admissions, student support and aviation career guidance. The academy has also initiated the licensing process for a future Syrian training operation incorporating ground school and practical flight instruction. Until that facility receives the necessary approvals, Syrian students can enroll locally and complete their flight training through FlyIAA's established international training network.
  • AFM previously reported that FlyIAA attracted more than 1,500 attendees across 10 recruitment events in six countries during July and August 2026, including an Open Day in Damascus.
