International Aviation Academy of New Zealand Welcomes 20 New Pilot Trainees in August 2026

New Zealand – Flight training organisation International Aviation Academy of New Zealand (IAANZ) has welcomed a new intake of 20 domestic and international students who will train from Christchurch International Airport.

• IAANZ operates from Harewood Aviation Park at Christchurch International Airport and uses the airport environment to expose students to controlled-airspace operations, air traffic control communications and airline traffic during training. The academy also uses West Melton and Rangiora for training outside its main Christchurch base.
• AFM previously reported that IAANZ welcomed 25 students in its first 2026 intake in February and a further eight students in March.
• IAANZ offers training pathways covering the Private Pilot Licence, Commercial Pilot Licence, instrument and multi-engine training, Airline Transport Pilot Licence theory, Multi-Crew Cooperation and flight instructor training.
• The academy operates a fleet of 24 aircraft: five Piper PA-28-181 Archers, eight PA-28-161 Warriors, one Partenavia P68C, six PA-38-112 Tomahawks, one Alpha A160a, one Cessna 172, one PA-28R-200 Arrow and one PA-28-140 Cherokee.
