Waterford, Ireland – Atlantic Flight Training Academy (AFTA) celebrated a significant milestone at Waterford Airport, marking the training of its 500th student pilot since beginning operations at the location in 2018. • AFTA, Ireland’s largest flight training academy, has operated at Waterford Airport for six years, fostering excellence in aviation education and preparing pilots to meet the growing global demand.
• The academy’s presence complements Waterford Airport’s role as a hub for pilot training, search and rescue operations, national aerial survey flights, and business jet activities.
• October 2024 saw a record intake of 42 trainee pilots, further solidifying AFTA’s role in addressing aviation workforce needs.
