Irish Pilot Training Organisation AFTA Cuts CO2 Emissions with SAF-Compatible Diamond and Cessna Aircraft

Ireland – Atlantic Flight Training Academy (AFTA) has announced that its entire Diamond fleet and three of its G1000-equipped Cessna 172 aircraft are now operating with Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF)-compatible engines, marking a major step toward sustainable flight training.

  • The new SAF-compatible engines deliver:

    • Over 80% reduction in CO2 emissions.

    • More than 40% reduction in noise levels compared to conventional Avgas-powered variants.

  • This initiative reflects AFTA’s commitment to environmental sustainability and innovation in commercial airline flight training.

  • The project is supported by AFTA’s partners at Cork Airport and Waterford Airport.
