Irish Pilot Training Organisation Introduces Advanced UPRT Course at Base

23rd Oct 2024

Atlantic Flight Training Academy, founded in 1995 and Ireland’s largest – and one of Europe’s leading – Independent Flight Training Organisations, is excited to announce the launch of its Advanced Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT) program at Waterford Airport. This course is now compulsory for all commercial student pilots, aimed at enhancing their skills in managing upset conditions in flight.

  • Led by seasoned instructor Alan Murphy, who brings over 20 years of expertise in both competitive aerobatics and air displays, this training program will cater to both modular and integrated students.
  • The UPRT consists of five hours of theoretical instruction and a minimum of three hours of dual flight training in aircraft, focusing on improving resilience to the psychological and physiological challenges associated with unexpected flight scenarios.
  • The training kicks off with a lesson in a Cessna 172 G1000 equipped with an angle of attack sensor and advanced autopilot systems.
  • Following this, students will experience flight training in the T67 Slingsby, with the final lesson conducted in either a Cessna 172 G1000 or a T67 Slingsby.
