Latin American Airline Group Places 2025 Order for 55 New Airbus Jets

Global – Abra Group, the holding company of Avianca and GOL and a strategic investor in Wamos Air, has confirmed a major fleet expansion order with Airbus, finalising the purchase of 50 additional A320neo family aircraft and five A350-900 widebodies. The agreement formalises a Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2024 and supports the Group’s strategy to strengthen its network across the Americas and Europe.

  • With this announcement, Abra Group has now ordered a total of 150 A320neo family aircraft, of which 138 remain in the delivery backlog.
  • More than 150 Airbus aircraft are already in service across the Abra Group’s airlines, with the Group operating one of the region’s most significant Airbus fleets.
  • Airbus continues to dominate the Latin American commercial aircraft market, with over 850 aircraft in service and more than 470 in the regional order backlog. The manufacturer has captured 75% of net orders in the region since 1994.
