Spain – Leading Edge Aviation, a flight training group with campuses at London Oxford Airport and Alhama de Murcia, has announced the first of four brand-new Piper Archer DX aircraft is preparing to leave the factory for delivery to its Alhama, Murcia base in Spain.
The Archer DX is Piper's diesel-powered variant of the PA-28 Archer platform, featuring a Continental CD-155 jet-fuel engine and Garmin G1000 NXi avionics, offering lower fuel costs and improved operational efficiency compared to avgas-powered trainers — a significant advantage for high-utilization flight training operations.
The new aircraft complement Leading Edge Aviation's existing fleet of Diamond DA40 and DA42 aircraft alongside specialist platforms and advanced simulator capability, creating a progression from single-engine to multi-engine training on modern, standardised systems.
The fleet modernization comes alongside a busy period for Leading Edge Aviation, which recently celebrated its Class of 2026 graduation and marked the first anniversary of its Jet2FlightPath launch ATO partnership.
