United Kingdom – UK CAA- and EASA-approved flight training organisation Leading Edge Aviation has welcomed two new student cohorts, LEAP-079 and MGS-050, in November 2026. The intake adds to the academy's ongoing integrated and modular professional pilot training activities, supporting the development of future commercial airline pilots.

  • The two cohorts comprise a combined 24 students beginning their training through the Leading Edge Airline Preparation (LEAP) integrated program and Modular Ground School (MGS) pathway.
  • The LEAP Integrated program provides a full-time ab-initio training pathway covering ATPL theoretical knowledge, foundation and advanced flight training, Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL), Multi-Engine Instrument Rating (MEIR), Advanced Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (A-UPRT) and Airline Pilot Standards Multi-Crew Cooperation (APS MCC).
  • The Modular Ground School program, delivered at the academy's Oxford campus, comprises approximately 28 training weeks, covering 13 ATPL theoretical knowledge subjects across three modules and a minimum of 650 instructional hours. Students can subsequently progress through modular flight training towards professional pilot qualifications.
  • AFM previously reported that Leading Edge Aviation welcomed 20 students into its LEAP-078 integrated pilot training cohort in October 2026, following the arrival of 19 students in LEAP-077 during September.
  • The academy operates a dual-campus training model, with theoretical knowledge and advanced flight training activities based at London Oxford Airport and foundation flying primarily conducted at its Alhama de Murcia campus in Spain. Students can pursue UK CAA or EASA qualifications, with dual-licence options also available.
  • Leading Edge Aviation's published operational fleet comprises 30 training aircraft, including 13 Diamond DA40, nine Diamond DA42, six Piper PA-28 and two Slingsby Firefly aircraft. Its Oxford training devices include two Diamond DA42 FNPT II simulators and one MPS Airbus A320 FTD-1 used for APS MCC training. Four additional Piper Archer DX aircraft are listed as planned fleet additions.
